Obtaining traffic through organic search engine listings is the highest goal of a traffic building campaign.  Why?  Because organic searches that list your website near the top (page 1 or 2) allows you to reach visitors with ZERO cost to you.  Unlike Pay-Per-Click advertising, you have a chance that the browser looking up one of your keywords will see your site listed, visit and purchase your product.  All without paying for that visitor’s click.

Because this is the Holy Grail of traffic building, this goal does take time and effort to achieve.  But think of it as “sweat equity” instead of hard dollars invested.  You will spend time making sure the search engines (Google, Yahoo and Bing) see you as relevant to your chosen keywords.  But starting an online business is not a get rich quick scheme, it is a legitimate business that you must nurture and support.

The algorithms used by the search engines are constantly changing and evolving.  But one main ingredient exists for all of them.  The search engine spiders crawl millions of websites everyday looking for links (primarily anchor text)  to other sites, then they crawl those sites looking for content relevant to the anchor they followed.  You can gleam two ideas from this information:

1.  You need to have a lot of backlinks on other websites, preferably using anchor text links composed of your keywords.

2.  You need to have content on your site that is relevant to the anchor text you used.  For example, an anchor text link of  “how to make money from home” should link to a website that is legitimately selling a product or talking about making money from home.  Not to a site that sells a book on rehabbing shoulder injuries.

Before you start a backlink campaign read through your website content and study your keywords again.  Be sure that the keywords you will be using in your campaign are relevant to your website.

There are several methods to creating backlinks on popular sites.  Here are the ones I use:

1.  Become a member of several forums that are relevant to your products.  In your forum profile be sure to use every method to post your anchor text backlinks and your website.  This is important as your posts will either give you a signature block to use for advertising or they will allow the post readers to see your profile and perhaps follow your links.

Scroll through the different subjects and choose posts that are asking a questions or have a problem to solve.  Remember in forums you want to give more than you take so be helpful and considerate – the readers are real people and could become future customers.

Choose 3 to 5 forums total so you have time to become a valuable member of the posting community.

2.  Create an account with Yahoo Answers and Ask Yedda.  Both of these sites allow you to post answers to a wide variety of questions.  There is a qualifying period but eventually you will be able to advertise under your posts.

3.  There are many opinions on this subject but the rule of thumb is the higher the website Page Rank the better your backlink will be weighted by the search engines.  I subscribe to a service that provides the location of these high page rank sites.  I use this information to create my backlinks.  Each month I get a total of 50 backlinks on page rank 4 or higher sites.  It takes about 3 hours to complete all 50 but I have really seen some progress using this method.   For less that $10 per month, this is definitely worth the money.  Try it, I think you will like it!  High Page Rank Backlink Program

Building traffic is a never ending story.   You can always buy your traffic but FREE traffic is always best.

There are various ways to earn money online, some are easy and some are more difficult.  Some would involve a large sum of cash and some would need very little start up cash. You can spend just 30 minutes a day and you will be able to earn money while at home.  However, the more time you devote to any business the faster your success will come.  The key to success online is TRAFFIC!  The more you have the better you will do.

Here are the 3 Traffic tips to help you earn money online:

Content

Fresh, informative, exceptional and relevant content can get on top of the search engines. You can come up with your own content and work whenever you wish.   Some people set a goal of 1 article per day or 3 blog posts per week.  Link your website to the blog and the search engines will give you credit for updating your content.

Use a service like Pingler.com or Ping-O-Matic.com to load your updated webpage and make sure the directories and search engines are notified that you have added new content.  This will bring the search engine spiders faster to your website, thus bringing your rankings higher and moving you up in the organic searches.

Keyword Density

The number of keywords or key phrases repeated in content is vital for your site to rank on the search engines. You will have to come up with a quality content that will not appear very repetitive so it will not be recognized as spam.   Naturally seed your content with your keywords, use them in context about 4 or 5 times on the page.

You want to use the keywords on:

Website

Seed your sales letter or informative content with your keywords.  Use your keyword as an anchor text to your home page.  The search engines will crawl your site looking for relevance to the keywords that you are trying to rank for.

Blogs

Same idea as with the website but it is much easier to update and will keep the old content in the archives.   Provide value in your blog posts.  Give more information to your customers than you feel comfortable with.  The key is to help people in your target market, give them more than they expect to receive.

Article Directories

This is the resource where you can send your content.  These sites are intended to entice people to read your content.  You need to write 300-500 word articles that are keyword rich and provide valuable information to your target market.  The idea is that the reader will appreciate your information and follow your resource link to your website for more information and to buy your product.   The keyword relevancy is important so that the customers that find you are very targeted and are looking for exactly what you provide.

Forums

If you do a search on Google for your keywords plus the word “forum” you will find several forums in your niche – depending on your niche there may be quite a lot.  Visit the more popular forums and read through it looking for number of members, activity level, and relevance to your niche.  Become a member of at least 5 forums and visit them daily looking for questions that you can offer assistance with.  Again, be helpful and many people will follow your signature link to your website.  Here you are looking for actual customers not just Backlinks to your website.  Do not spam these sites or you will be banned.  Give more than you expect to receive and the money will follow.

There are thousands of people making money from home right now, do your homework, find a niche you love and then work at it every day.  Even a few minutes a day will keep you involved but try to dedicate at least 10 hours per week to get the most out of your new business.

We all know the formula for being successful online:

- Find a great product to sell
- Get lots of traffic to your website
- Rinse and repeat!

As I’ve talked about in other posts, getting the products is easy.  Using private label rights products is one of the easiest and fastest ways to earn money online.  So that leaves us with the traffic tasks.

Writing articles has become a truly effective way to drive targeted traffic to your websites.  Articles are helpful in three ways:

1) The link in your resource box is a way for Google and the other search engines to index your site for content relevant to your product.

2) Your article can be used by other webmasters for content on their sites, thus spreading your backlink onto other sites and again getting indexed by the search engines from that site.

3) Your article will be read by real people and if you have helped them and intrigued them to know more about you or your product they will follow your link and perhaps become a customer.

There are a lot of articles available on the internet but you can still find new and fresh angles to present information.  Do not bother with buying “canned” articles as the best directories (Ezine Articles, GoArticles and Article Dashboard) want original content.

An article between 300 and 600 words is a good size.  Be generous and give information that you would want to find if you were researching a subject. Remember you are the expert, you want the reader to want more from you so they will following the link in your resource box and visit your site.

Set a goal of at least 1 article per site per week.  You can always write more but writing less will seriously hurt your traffic generation attempts.
